What will happen if mental health and alcohol treatment centers are closed?

in cities? There is one being “merged” with an adolescent unit in town, even the local legislator says it’s just a sneaky way to shut it down. About 500 patients use it per year. Do you think closing it down will increase the crime rate? The legislator says it will end up costing the state more than leaving it open, it costs $16,000 and up to house a prisoner. I think that crimes involving alcohol and drugs and psychotic people will increase if the center is closed.
We already got people living in the woods near Wal-mart and suspect that they go there to eat their way through the store and steal spray-paint to sniff while in the woods. Police have found empty cans of paint and large pieces of carpet they cover themselves in and said that they sleep there. Just wondering about when the woods get over-crowded and they come into the neighborhoods. The homeless shelters are over capacity as it is when the weather is bad.

Will an online M.S. degree in Mental Health Counseling be respected in the community?

I would like to obtain a M.S. degree in Mental Health Counseling. I work full time and travel often with my job, so an online degree program would be most suitable for me. I am trying to determine if obtaining an online degree in this field of study would be respected. When I go to apply for jobs as a counselor would this make me less competitive than someone who obtained the same degree in residence?

Drug rehab and mental health question?

I have admitted that I have a serious addction to drugs. And I would say its not specific. Its like when im on drugs I think about quiting, but when im sober im thinking about getting drugs. I just dont want to be a part of reality, and I feel normal when im on drugs, if its alcohol, weed, pills, or cough syrup, I will do whatever. I almost cant even put into words what its like in my mind everyday or what I deal with, like one minute I can create all these goals and start plans and projects and be out going, and almost feel like I have a direct connection with god, and then its the complete opposite, just blackness and I hate people or like both at the same time, its extreamly scary. I want to quit drugs to feel happy, and to see things clear, but because my manic deppresion is so bad as well its like I will never be. Most of the time I feel extreamly deppresed, but at the same time I have a interest in everything in the world. My moods change so much now, that I can notice it and its like im locked inside my mind and I cant get out. I feel like im losing my mind, and everyday I question why I shouldent just blow my brains out. I need to be somewhere for drugs and because of my mental state. I was wondering if there is a place for this the can focus on my problems with drugs and my bipolar. And the cost. And if anyone has suggestions or can just relate to me, any thing at this point could help. Thank you.

Economic Stressors Result in Increased Need For Mental Health Benefits in Health Insurance Georgia

Mental health benefits are usually an optional service when it comes to individual health insurance Georgia policies. Customers can choose to include or exclude these services, in order to manage their health insurance Georgia monthly premiums. Many individuals who purchase individual health insurance Georgia policies agree to exclude mental health benefits in order to keep their monthly premiums low. Perhaps the health insurance Georgia policy was purchased when life stressors were at a minimum, or children were young, and mental health services seemed to not be a priority.

However, the last couple of years have resulted in a lot of financial life stressors for a number of Georgia families. The recession, unemployment, and financial difficulties have led to many changes in many families. Life has become much more difficult and stressful, and this has affected all family members, not just the adults. Many mental health care professionals have reported an increase in prospective client phone calls and interest in therapy services. However, many people calling to pursue counseling are shocked to find out that their health insurance Georgia policy does not provide benefits for mental health care. Therefore, they are completely responsible for the costs of mental health care services. Although some mental health professionals will provide services at a sliding scale for those without health insurance Georgia plans, many families struggle to come up with the necessary finances to pay for these services out of pocket.

Therefore, it is important when you are purchasing a health insurance Georgia policy, to consider future medical needs, not just current needs. The purpose of a health insurance Georgia plan is to provide financial help in order that an individual can receive necessary medical and health treatment or preventive treatment when they need it, without having a huge financial burden. Having a health insurance Georgia policy provides peace of mind. It is important to look at a health insurance Georgia policy as a safety net, and not an unnecessary expense. Planning ahead is a wise move.

One group of people that would benefit from mental health benefits being included in their health insurance Georgia policy are adolescents. Children are affected by the financial problems their parents are having, but because they have no control over finances, they may feel more helpless than their parents. Additionally, often children do not have enough knowledge or maturity to understand all of the external circumstances that are affecting their current financial situation. Therefore, the lack of knowledge, or maturity, contributes to their having negative emotions or feelings about the current stressors, without any understanding of the whole picture. Sometimes the financial problems of the parents lead to changes in life style, or a more limited social or travel experience. This can result in a teenager’s social isolation or emotional difficulty, if they suddenly feel alienated from their peers. Families that have a health insurance Georgia plan with mental health coverage can seek services from a mental health professional to help their adolescent deal with these emotions.

So consider adding mental health benefits to your current individual health insurance Georgia policy. This can be done through a rider that is added to your policy, like a supplement.

Not sure of what’s going on. Can I still seek mental help without health insurance?

I’ve been scouring the web for several months now and I think I’ve stumbled upon something that may fit me pretty well, but I’m starting to doubt myself because my dad says I should stop thinking about it and start thinking that nothing is wrong with me and just get a job already. Could it be that I’m just trying to “take the easy way out” by thinking I have a mental condition that can be treated and everything would be all better? This is no “easy” matter.

A few months ago a friend of mine sent me some music by a band called Say Anything, the lead singer of which is bipolar. I watched some vidoes of him and other people describing their condition and what they felt and thought at certain times, during certain mental states. I definitely related with a lot of things they were saying, like feeling extremely depressed while the next minute they’d be jumping up and down. But it’s like a cycle for me. I might be “normal” for a week then it’s back to being depressed and not wanting to move or shower or anything. I’m afraid I cannot go on like this anymore.

I don’t really have anything to stress about, but I get distracted so easily and talk to myself a lot instead of picking up the phone and talking to friends. They’re usually working anyway, which is what I should be doing. I am 19 years old, but I still feel 16, even 14, because I lack such maturity that my older sister has. I have a big case of social anxiety as well, and my dad just doesn’t believe me when I say it’s not going away.

So, sorry to drag this on, but I don’t know what to do now. I have no health insurance, I’m not a full-time student, and I can’t run crying to my dad for money all the time… Is there any way I could see a psychiatrist for free or are there payment plans? Anything, I just need help. How can I make my dad finally see me? Thank you so much for hearing me out :)
Thank you for the replies :) I’ll keep an open mind and ask around.

Mental Stress- Ways to Release Stress

Imagine you’re on your way to meet friends in a bar. You’re late and stuck behind a van in slow motion, when the whole street lurches into darkness. Suddenly the man crossing the street in front of you likes a potential burglar. The cars around you seem to be hemming you in. Everyone and everything seems dangerous. You went from a little stressed completely strung us a moment.

When you finally reach the bar, his friends are deep in conversation about blackouts, crime and plan to leave the country. What should have been a carefree; full of fun has turned into a night filled with anxiety.

It’s like a dark cloud of weight is hanging above us now. Most of us are unaware of the extent to which issues of concern that are affecting us. But if a high level of stress to your mind continues over a long period, paralyzing feeling of being overwhelmed can set in. Have you ever been in a situation where, under mind stress, can not remember the name of one of their own family members? Maybe you are stuck in a depression, or perhaps you have achieved something great, but the next morning you do not want to get out of bed because you’re so low.

These are indications that you are caught in a mind storm stress – a place full of fear and confusion when you’re no longer thinking rationally. If this sounds familiar, read on to understand better what is happening to you – and to become acquainted with it.

On a physical level – which is where the symptoms are easier to detect and treat – memory stress can appear as migraines, headaches, muscle aches and pains, skin breakouts (acne, psoriasis, eczema) and stomach problems (including bowel syndrome irritable and constipation). Emotionally, we become more prone to outbursts of temper, mood swings and negativity. Mentally, we feel less able to cope. Our vision becomes distorted and it becomes very difficult to keep our perspective. Mentally highly stressed people become reactive. This means that they react more to everything in their lives, the lack of milk in the fridge for the geyser burst. We become so overwhelmed that literally pull us along.

High levels of stress can affect our relationships too. Some people are too tired to go out and socialize, and they often feel a burden on others. Others may drink more to be more sociable or in an attempt to forget, so that the glass of wine, suddenly turns into a bottle of wine. According to the investigation of women may be more likely to develop stress-related factors (such as cocaine addiction) than men. The good news, however, is that stress the body is our way of telling us to do something. But what……….

The suggestions below are a good start. Do not knock them sound obvious – at least not until you actually tried them.

Stress Busters….Gain Perspective — Understand that there are certain things in your life that you have control over you and others not. If, for example, you are concerned about the political situation, I vote. If you are concerned about crime, join or start a monitoring program to the neighborhood. Be proactive about the things that you can influence and let go of who you can not.

Breathe– At work, if you find your mind getting stressed or anxious, go somewhere quiet and concentrate on your breathing. Imagine your breath is like waves breaking on the beach. Keep a regular rhythm. Imagine you are breathing all the way from your toes when you breathe, and all the way back again as you breathe out.

Eating Well— Do not hand your power over food and drinks. This fat burger will not release your stress of you mind. Instead ask, ‘What will make this drink or food for my body in the long term? “Cut the sugar. Sugar gives you a temporary lift followed by a downer. If you’re craving something sweet, try eating fruit or a handful of nuts. Drink plenty of water. The stress mind tends to dehydrate the body. Keeping your body hydrated will reduce stress symptoms such as fatigue and headaches.

Exercise More– One of the most effective ways of dealing with stress mind is exercise. Try doing some kind of exercise at least three times a week for 30 to 60 minutes.

Develop a positive internal dialogue– This is a powerful way to help us when we are feeling our mind stressed. We tend to feel worried about things that we have no control over (the future, other people) and more than we fear never happens. Staying at this time, if you start to stress about tomorrow, remember that you can live today – tomorrow does not exist.

What form of mental illness prevents young Americans from realizing flying saucers/ alien abductions are real?

Is it some form of denial mechanism, the implication of aliens really being here just too scary for them? Or is it because the aliens that are here are not acting in the manner they had hoped? I’ve heard so many of them say “Aliens would land in Times Square and give us all advanced technology and make our lives great! Why, they’ll enlighten us to be peaceful!” Sadly, this does not seem to be the case. Or I hear them say, “Why would anybody come to this lame-o planet?” Gee, kids, spend a weekend on Neptune or Mercury, then tell me how “lame” this planet is.

But my favorite line of absolute bullshirt is “They’re is no evidence!” This statement is laughable, displaying only a complete ignorance of the facts. There are 50 million witnesses in America, many of which are police officers, Military personnel, airline pilots, and other professional trained observers. Their testimony is solid evidence. Not “anecdotal’, a crutch the deniers lean on, but evidence, and our entire judicial system is based upon eyewitness testinony being regarded as convincing evidence. People are put on death row every day based solely on eyewitness testimony, especially when that testimony come from a police officer, so what makes him right in a court of law, but wrong whenever the issue is a flying saucer? Because you know they don’t exist lol? Because FOX news says they don’t exist? Over 1,500 U.S. military personnel are now on record detailing their military experience dealing with aliens. They are involved with the Disclosure Project.

Apart from eyewitnesses, there are tens of thousands of photos and videos of these craft, some unconvincing, others moreso, like it or not, they are mountains of evidence, photos dating from the 1910s till today, many of which have been verified by expert and former government photo analysts. Many of these sightings videoed by multiple witness unknown to each other from different vantage points.

There are over 3,000 PHYSICAL TRACE cases investigated, where the sighting/abduction left physical evidence behind: such as radiation, radiation burns, luminous chemical liquids and foams, rare heavy-metal isotopes left in vegetation or soil, abductees with symbols and markings and implants that have been removed, cattle with lasered cauterized wounds.

Not to mention the fact that many countries have already come forward and stated that they have had military enconters with extraterrestrials, and they have released the documents to the public. France, England, China, Turkey, Brazil. The Canadian defense minister said “flying saucers and aliens are as real as the airplanes over your head.” And in Japan, the Japanese Defense Minister states that UFOs are alien ships, highly advanced. He is demanding that the Japanese parliament prepare a defense strategy against alien attack. Don’t believe me? Google it, sheeple.

But what do they know, right? Lol You know better, because you play Wii all day, right, guitar hero?

Get Rid of Your Mental Depression or it Can be Fatal

We think about drug addiction, alcohol addiction and how to help a person get rid of these addictions, but overlook the cause of such addictions almost always. Addiction to drugs or alcohol cannot be uprooted unless the cause of the addiction is taken care of. The most vital cause of such addictions is depression. There are several other causes for addiction also, but depression is the worst of them all. People often start taking drugs or alcohol when they suffer from too much mental depression. In this society of ours, living has become very difficult because of the hard competition people have to face in every aspect of their life. And because of these daily problems, people often remain depressed; this depression drives them to take drugs. Drug addiction cannot be stopped unless a person gets rid of his depression.

Depression can come anytime and you can feel it. When such tough time comes, consult a doctor or get admitted in a depression treatment center immediately. If you overlook this situation, the depression will engulf you and the only way that you will see to get out of it will be addiction to drugs or alcohol. Many people have a wrong idea that taking drugs can help them to treat their depression; in several cases people start taking drugs to get rid of the depression, this malpractice gradually leads them to drug addiction. Getting proper treatment in a depression treatment house is the only healthy way to overcome depression. Since, depression is totally a mental problem; much medicinal treatment is not required. The treatment centers take the appropriate measures to cure the patients.

Hundreds of depression treatment centers have grown up in United States; some of them provide excellent treatments for curing the patients. One of the best depression treatment centers of United States is the Cliffside Malibu. This treatment center has proved to be very effective for those people suffering from drug addiction, alcohol addiction, eating disorders and also depression treatment. As told earlier, depression treatment does not involve much medicinal treatment; the best treatment is care and comfort. The medical staffs of Cliffside Malibu provide immense care and mental support to the patients so that they can easily overcome their depression. Besides the excellent services of the medical staffs, the environment of Cliffside Malibu also helps the patients to recover from their depression easily. The calm and soothing environment of this rehab cools the mind of the patients suffering from immense depression. The sober lifestyle maintained in this rehab is also a good factor for the proper treatment of a patient.

Hundreds of which treat mental depression have grown up all over the world. If you realize that you are getting any such mental problems of depression, consult a depression treatment center, otherwise it can be fatal in future if you cannot get rid of it. No one can be blamed for having mental depression; anyone can face tough situations in life and at that time the problem should be solved in a healthy way.

Are there travel programs for mental health professionals?

I know there are travel nursing programs, but I was wondering if anyone knows if there are programs like that for mental health therapists, school counselors, or social workers? I’d love any help on this!
Obviously long-term therapy would be ridiculous, but currently I do crisis work, where we only have clients for 60 days max. I know there are many jobs like this out there (or school jobs that only last for 8 months)- I was just wondering if there are any TRAVEL jobs.

Drugless Therapy for Mental Problems

Drugless Therapy for Mental Problems

There’s a new drug free therapy for many, if not most, mental problems that has NO bad side effects.  This new solution to these problems is easily affordable even to low income families.  (Unlike the time tested EEG Biofeedback (AKA Neurofeedback or Neurotherapy).  It works to change brain wave amplitudes in a different, simpler way than EEG Biofeedback.  It’s called “Neuroliminal Brain Wave Training”, although most just call it “Neuroliminal”.  (There’s a Patent Pending on this new usage).

How does it work?  It uses a special combination of speech and audio sounds combined in a subliminal message on a repeating CD.  This repetitive message might be called “beneficial brainwashing”.  Tests conducted over 3 years have proved that this therapy is very effective for ADD/ADHD, Depression, and Insomnia, and the latest test of 11 autistic kids ranging in age from 3 ½  to 11 showed the same overall improvement in an 8 week reporting period as would be expected in a similar group using EEG Biofeedback.  All of these are continuing to use their CD, and expect further improvement in “normalizing” their kids.

Earlier tests (2004) showed both Depression and Insomnia problems were solved within a few weeks or less.  In tests in 2005/6, over 20 ADD/ADHD sufferers solved these symptoms within 8 weeks.  They now are able to sit in class, concentrate, and learn.  In most cases, IQ scores improved considerably.  With Ritalin and other drugs, IQ is often affected adversely.  Why are we wasting our brightest kids this way?

What are the drawbacks?  It takes time to change brain wave amplitudes.  Even using EEG Biofeedback (AKA  Neurofeedback or Neurotherapy), it takes 60 sessions for most ADHD cases.  THERE ARE NO QUICK SOLUTIONS TO MENTAL PROBLEMS.

Drugs never really solve such problems, they just relieve some symptoms, and their side-effects all too often lead to worse problems.  There are no such dangers from Neuroliminal Training.

Allergy and Mental Health

Allergy and Mental Disease

The following may come as a surprise to most people, including most medical doctors.

Most mental disease is caused by unsuspected brain allergies!

This fact was illuminated for me by Dr Marshall Mandell in the early 80′s.  He appeared on the Phil Donahue show, and had videos of persons with mental problems caused or worsened by allergen testing.  He was the first to name such as “brain allergies”.

In 1982, Dr Von Hilsheimer introduced the first End-Point-Titration allergy testing into Florida, and I worked with him at an allergy clinic in Orlando.  We amazed several MD allergists in that clinic with depression and many other cases being solved.

During that time, I studied allergy/sensitivity extensively.  I found a list of mental diseases caused by allergens that surprised me.  None of my previous experience and learning in psychology had prepared me for such.  I found the following in a “standard” text on allergies as “Mental Symptoms”.  It surprised me, and probably will you.

While giving a 4 day orthomolecular seminar in Soviet Georgia in 2000, I was introduced to the latest EEG biofeedback therapy of raising the amplitude of the brain waves just above Alpha, in the range of 12-15 Hz.  (later named the SMR brain wave) In the discussion, I remembered that list of mental diseases caused by allergens.  I then proposed the following theory:  “Raising the SMR brain wave somehow changed the affect of allergens on the brain.  To date, no other theory fits the data.

When I returned to the US, I started the first leasing of EEG BF equipment for home use.  As you can imagine this did not endear me to the clinicians who were charging up to $250 per half hour for the service.  The actual operation is so simple that anyone with a high school education can easily learn how to do it, although the learned clinicians will (as usual) protest the necessity of a professional approach.  (This in spite of no record of harm being done to anyone, and no license being required to practice this simple therapy.)

In 2001, Dr Jiri Tyrl of the Czech Biofeedback Society listed papers about EEG biofeedback that showed the following mental diseases as being either cured or greatly improved by this feedback:

Epilepsy; ADD/ADHD, Learning Disabilities, Academic-Cognitive Enhancement; Anxiety Disorders, PTSD, Sleep Disorders, Depression, Hemispheric Asymmetry, Anger, Addictive Disorders, Brain Injury, Stroke, Coma, Spasticity, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, Autoimmune Dysfunctions, Headache and other Pain, Schizophrenia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, Parkinson’s Dystonia, Tourette’s Syndrome, Autism; Cognitive Decline with Aging, Asthma Hypertension Dissociative Disorders, Creativity, Optimal Functioning, Criminal Recidivism.

This list was further proof (to me at least) that allergens were involved in much more mental disease that was suspected, and that this particular EEG biofeedback (now known as raising the SMR brain wave), DID somehow relieve this allergen susceptibility.  (Both my wife and I have either “cured” or alleviated lifelong allergies.)

In 2004, one of those comic light bulbs went on above my head, and I realized that it should be possible to do the same thing – namely raise the SMR brain wave – by use of subliminal messaging.

I put out a call for volunteers, and got over 20, who sent me weekly emails for 4 weeks.  Most were various types of ADD/ADHD, with a few depressives and insomniacs mixed in.  The results definitely showed that both my allergen theory and my subliminal theory were correct.

In 6 more volunteer tests since that time, we have shown that this therapy (named Neuroliminal Training) is at least as effective as EEG Biofeedback (aka Neurofeedback) for ADD/ADHD, depression, insomnia, autism, and epilepsy.

We’re going even further with a current test that includes Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, PTSD, Depression of all types, etc.  This test will end in January 2009.

Can we sue for mental anguish? Please help!! 10 points!!?

My mother and I have essentially put our lives on hold to take care of my terminally ill grandfather. We have family members who don’t want to respect my mother because she is disabled (they stated it to the police when we had to call the police on them). I had to call the police and file a report against one family member who attempted to attack my mother, and ended up fighting me. They’ve come over our house (which is actually my grandfather’s house but we live with him to take care of him) and have refused to leave. The police again had to be called to make them leave. They have called DHR on us claiming abuse (which was proven to be unfounded), they then called DHR again saying we were murdering my grandfather by over-medicating him with morphine (which was also found to be untrue). They then took me and my mother to court, but my mother was granted guardianship despite what they said. We had to pay money for a lawyer for this event as well. The court said they are allowed to visit between the hours of 10am-8pm. When they come in, they sneak in food to give to my grandfather (we’ve caught them), and then his hands/feet swell and WE have to answer to the nurse. They leave the door open for one another, so we don’t know who is coming in and out of our own house.

Can we sue them for mental anguish? It’s hard enough taking care of someone who is 85, has lung cancer, AND mesothelioma, then we have to worry about this. What can we do?
Would I go to adult protective services? I also have an email from one of the relatives stating she would leave his oxygen off–which he needs to breathe. Something needs to be done. Who would I ask for in DHR?
